Bird flu masks - new sites every day

More and more sites related to bird flu are springing up every day. Just today a new bird flu masks site was launched masksforbirdflu.com. I just hope that the mask manufactures such as 3m and nano masks can keep up with the demand growing each day.

Countries are treating the current bird flu threat seriously. Australia this week announced a $100 million dollar package to help Asia Pacific countries fight against the bird flu.

Mr Howard of Australia warned the threat of a bird flu epidemic should be regarded "as a lot more serious" than it had been in the past.

Bird Flu Preparation

Are you prepared for an outbreak of bird flu?

There are some simple things we can do to help prepare ourselves and our bodies for an outbreak of avian flu (bird flu).
  • Boost your immune system
  • Obtain protective face masks
  • Look after your health
Protective bird face masks should not be our only line of defense against bird flu, however they play a key role to act as a barrier to airborne viruses, helping to prevent the virus from entering our bodies. Once the virus enters our body it all comes down to the bodies own defenses; the immune system. You can naturally boost your immune system by taking echinacia, garlic and vitamin C, however you should consult your Health Care Professional.

Guidelines for choosing a face mask for bird flu protection.
  • NIOSH-certified N95 rating or higher
  • Adjustable straps for fitting the mask to your face
Face masks fitted with an exhalation valve are recommended best comfort when wearing a mask. One key point to note is that if you have contracted bird flu, a valved mask is not recommended as this allows the virus out into the air to spread. You can find a good selection of bird flu masks at here.
